about me
As a student journalist for the award-winning Scot Scoop News, I have reported on a variety of different subjects from Bay Area news to campus sports and have produced several videos as a member of Scot Scoop's Broadcast Team.
Since the start of this year, I have also written several features for The Highlander Newspaper and was a photographer, designer, and writer for Scotlight Magazine.
Though I was once shy and struggled to talk with others, my experience as a reporter helped me gain the confidence to venture outside of my comfort zone and accomplish things I never thought were possible.

August 2017 - January 2018
In my first 5 months as a staff writer for Scot Scoop News, I wrote several articles on Bay Area news ranging from pumpkin festivals to the opening of a new hospital.
January 2018 - March 2018
From January to March I was a member of Scot Scoop's Broadcasting Team, ScotCenter News, where I filmed several videos ranging from Bay Area to campus news.
March 2018 - June 2018
From March to June I returned to Scot Scoop News as a sports writer and reported on a variety of campus sports such as the boy's varsity lacrosse and tennis, girl's varsity lacrosse and softball, as well as a historic PAL final by Carlmont's swim teams.
August 2018 - October 2018
As there was a need in sportswriters at the beginning of the year, I decided to report on sports once again, determined to not only improve my writing but my photography as well. From water polo to cross-country I searched for sports that were not often talked about and used my skills as a journalist to give voice to the student-athletes who are often not heard.
October 2018 - June 2019
As a member of Scotlight Magazine, I wrote, designed, and took photographs for several spreads for each magazine issue. I also designed several advertisements and was in charge of the back page for the second issue.
Through my time as a member of Scotlight Magazine, I discovered my passion for design and am now proficient on programs such as InDesign and Adobe Illustrator.
In addition to working for the magazine, I continued to publish features for my school's newspaper The Highlander, wrote articles and organized multimedia packages on our online publication Scot Scoop News, and produced videos for ScotCenter News.
I also became an editor for The Highlander and helped design and edit articles for the newsmagazine in May.
August 2019 - Current
As an editor for The Highlander newsmagazine, I edited and designed the center story for every other issue and worked with other writers as a photographer.
I continued writing articles for ScotScoop and helped organize a multimedia package covering the Save the Music Festival. I also was in charge of the Scot Scoop social media accounts for one week, tweeting articles and creating a "Spooky" playlist on Spotify.
